The mission of the Institute is to develop the system of lifelong education of professionals at teaching labor market; ensuring the continuity of the state educational standards and training programs in educational institutions of different levels; providing conditions for a streamline integration of the Institute in the existing market of additional educational services; building capacity of the educational district pertaining to the North-Eastern Federal University involving its structural divisions, the Network of Presidential Schools, PNPE grants winning schools (Priority National Program ‘Education’), APE institutions, associations, research organizations, author’s innovative pedagogical platforms, as well as other facilities entitled to educational activity, including commercial organizations.

The Institute offers additional professional educational programs of short-term (at least 72 hours), topic-related and challenge-focused (72 to 100 hours), and long-term (over 100 hours) refresher courses embracing relevant issues of science, education, technology, etc., in form of the following types of training and educational activities: lectures, workshops and seminars, laboratory work, exchange of experience seminars, field exercises, apprenticeship, counseling, course papers, certification tests, graduation papers and other.

The Institute is operating a Web Department portal, which allows a teacher, regardless of their location, to build their individual educational track of further training and retraining. The project is implemented in accordance with SCORM 1.2 international standards of e-learning.
