NEFU delegation visited Hankuk University in South Korea

From 4 to 12 March, representatives of North-Eastern Federal University, at the invitation of Hankuk University of Foreign Languages ​​in Seoul, visited South Korea. During the visit, the delegates took part in the international conference " Understanding Northeastern Siberia and the Arctic Region: Society, Culture and Politics".

Viktor Nogovitsyn, head of the Scientific Laboratory of the Ecology and Sustainability of the Ecosystems of the North of NEFU Institute of Natural Sciences, noted that today Korean researchers pay much attention to Eastern Siberia, in the field of the transport possibilities of the Northern Sea Route and the potential for economic cooperation between the regions of the Russian Far East and South Korea .

"During the trip we visited three universities that work with Russia. We attended a seminar-meeting on trade relations between South Korea and the Far East of Russia at the State University of Gangneung-Wonju. At the University of Hallim, we met with teachers, discussed the activities of NEFU, the number of students, areas of work, climatic and geographic conditions of the Far North and the Arctic", said Viktor Nogovitsyn.

The conference is organized by the leading center of Slavic studies in the Republic of Korea - the Institute for Russian Studies of Hankuk University of Foreign Languages. The main topics of the conference were "Modern Life and Tradition in Yakutia", "Ethnicity and Development of Yakutia", "International Cooperation and Sustainable Development in the Arctic and Eastern Siberia".

The Yakut delegation included the director of NEFU Neryungri branch Sergey Pavlov, the senior lecturers of the IFPRS Daryana Maksimova and Mikhail Bashkirov, the head of the INS laboratory Viktor Nogovitsyn and the deputy director of the RIPH "Sakhamedia" Afanasiy Noev.

It should be noted that Hankuk University of Foreign Languages​ and Maksim Ammosov Federal University are conducting fruitful cooperation - annual exchange programs for students, university researchers organize summer scientific schools and courses. Currently, NEFU graduates - Artyom Yegorov, Kristina Vasilyeva and Anna Syromyatnikova are successfully studying and working at Hankuk University.
