North-Eastern Federal University entered the ranking of higher educational institutions based on the analysis of the international agency Round University Ranking 2017, according to NEFU Department of Strategic Development.

According to the results of the ranking, NEFU took the fifth place in Russia and 269 in the world in the humanities, in natural sciences - 18 in the country and 495 among foreign universities, in public - fourth place in Russia and 317 in the world, the university took 26 place in Russia and 487 in the world in technical sciences.

"The ranking on the humanities included four federal universities, among which NEFU, having shown the best result, took the first place. In the social sciences, NEFU ranks first among seven federal universities, and also ranks third and fourth in technical and natural sciences. The University showed the highest positions in the quality of teaching and research in the humanities and social sciences", the department's employees noted.

In the ranking 2017, the best universities of the world are represented in each of the subject areas – there were 761 universities in total. According to the Department of Strategic Development, Russia affirmed its leadership in the leading fields of knowledge in the country - natural and technical sciences. Educational institutions were assessed on 20 indicators, grouped into four groups: the quality of teaching and research, the levels of internationalization and financial sustainability.

The data provider for the RUR system is the international company Clarivate Analytics. Earlier, the agency published the world ranking of 2017, in which NEFU took the 544 place.
