Mathematicians of North-Eastern Federal University achieved high results at the Super Final of the International Student Internet Olympiad in Mathematics (OIIO - Open International Internet-Olympiad). Students of NEFU Institute of Mathematics and Informatics Egor Fedotov and Aleksey Khokhlov won bronze medals.

The Super final was held on the basis of Ariel University in Ariel (Israel) on October 17.

Over 100 students from all over the world took part in the finals, including 42 students from Russia. Traditionally, Russian students became participants of the super final, who showed high results in the III round of the Internet-Olympiad, which took place in May on the basis of Volga State Technological University in Yoshkar-Ola.

As the senior lecturer of NEFU IMI Evgeny Sharin noted, the mathematicians showed good preparation at the all-Russian level on the third round, they were awarded diplomas of the third degree and were invited to the super final. "The Super Final took place in the traditional form - five hours are given for solving nine non-standard problems from the course of algebra, linear geometry, mathematical analysis, number theory and elementary mathematics. Our guys showed a good result - they were awarded with diplomas and bronze medals of the Olympiad", he said.

Students of NEFU Institute of Mathematics and Informatics annually participate in the Olympiad Super Final - the first victories were in 2011, when the student Erchimen Izbekov was awarded a silver medal of the Olympiad.

"We are training students for such intellectual competitions, developing in them the will to win and sports excitement and taking part in all-Russian and international Olympiads", Evgeny Sharin said.
