Medical Institute of North-Eastern Federal University and Kawasaki School of Medicine have been cooperating since 2014. Today, their joint work has reached a new level: universities have signed an agreement that includes an international exchange of teachers and students and academic information, including joint research, lectures and symposia, according to SakhaNews.

NEFU Rector Anatoly Nikolaev said that within the frameworks of the new program, a special focus at the university will be on the medical direction and enhancing training of doctors, taking into account the adaptive mechanisms of human physiology in the Arctic and extremely low temperatures of the North. More than 2,300 doctors are planned to graduate during 2021-2025. Anatoly Nikolaev noted that the university pays special attention to cooperation with Japan.
