Cooperation between NEFU and the University of Western Brittany will be continued

As part of the Siberian Education Salon in Paris, North-Eastern Federal University and the University of Western Brittany have signed an agreement on joint activities based on previously initiated cooperation.

Rector of North-Eastern Federal University Anatoly Nikolaev noted that the joint work of universities will expand. “This time, the main focus will be on the development of joint research and academic exchange in different areas. The Department of Sociology and Ethnology is willing to conduct joint research. Also, NEFU Mirny branch will be involved in cooperation,” said the rector.

The federal university and the University of Western Brittany are implementing an international research project on current issues and problems of valorization and popularization of food culture. In addition, universities are studying the impact of social and environmental problems of environmental pollution in the North on health and traditional food culture in collaboration with Francois Rabelais University of Tours. Fundamental and clinical studies of the nutrition transformation of modern man are promising areas with the same universities.

Anatoly Nikolaev also met with Jean-Paul Vanderlinden, Director of the CEARC Arctic Research Laboratory. They discussed the possibility of exchanging current and future research projects. In addition, the rector paid a visit to the LSCE Climatology Laboratory and met with Professor Valerie Dox. NEFU conducts joint research with these laboratories in the field of climatology, economics, and social and cultural problems of the northern territories.

At the end of the work of the Siberian Education Salon, a delegation of the federal university and the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Art took part in the negotiations at the HEAR. A tripartite agreement was concluded with this school, which unites the opportunities of three universities. An exchange program has been launched, there is the cultural and educational program “Heat of Cold”, within the framework of which various interdisciplinary events are being held, including winter and summer schools “Crossroads of Cultures”. There is a research work on the transformation problems of cultural heritage and contemporary art.
