The meeting was held in Arkhangelsk from September 9 to 12.

Ruslan Gorodnichev, Head of the Russian-German Arctic Environmental Laboratory, noted that the delegation of North-Eastern Federal University, together with colleagues from the Institute for Polar and Marine Research, prepared reports on the research infrastructure of the “Biological Monitoring – BioM” laboratory, on the features of joint expeditions in the Arctic, as well as the prospects for further research.

“This meeting was attended by representatives of various institutions, as well as the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and Germany. We discussed joint current projects, plans for the future and talked about the research infrastructure, what equipment we work on, what format of the expedition, what is the role of our German partners in this cooperation. We presented a report together with scientist Ulrike Herzschuch within the frameworks of the program “Corporate AWI Laboratory -NEFU BioM on Biological Monitoring”. The first report was devoted to the research infrastructure of the BioM international laboratory, the second to the study of ecosystems along the transect laid from the Krasnoyarsk Territory to Chukotka. All studies are carried out along latitude and longitude,” said Ruslan Gorodnichev.

“We discussed with the Ministry of Education and Science participation in the competition for funds under the federal target program and ways to improve performance in the future. In turn, representatives of the ministry talked about plans to develop a program, which would further explain the mistakes to the applicants and evaluate in points,” he added.
