The Week Against Cancer will be held at NEFU on 12-16 February. Annually students and professors of the Institute of Medicine organize a number of activities within the framework of World Cancer Day.
The aim of the Weekend is to raise public awareness of this global issue, to recall danger and prevalence of oncological diseases. "The cancer is one of the leading causes of death - 8 million people died in 2017. One of cancer telling sign is ill-defined cells formation, which go beyond their appropriate borders," - the institute said.
The event was organized by the Institute's student bodies. Maria Gerasimova, the event moderator, said that 40% of diseases can be prevented, and there is a higher chance of cure in the early stages of the disease.
