On October 16, North-Eastern Federal University hosted the grand opening of the university championship by World Skills standards. Until October 19, 40 contestants from the federal university will compete in four professional competencies.

The welcoming speech was delivered by Svetlana Lysova, the head of the Department for Work with Educational Organizations of the Union "Young Professionals". "The championship at NEFU coincided with the world championship in Abu Dhabi, where the national team of our country competes with the representatives of 77 countries. I think that the most effective support of the team is practical support, when you win with the best results in your competencies. I wish you to perform with the utmost efforts and show all the knowledge and skills", she said.

Svetlana Lysova added that Russia is one of the first countries that holds championships for the sake of qualitative change of training not only in the system of secondary professional, but also in higher education.

Competitions will be held in five competencies: "Web design and development", "Software solutions for business", "Engineering design", "Tourism", where the contestants will be evaluated by 40 experts-compatriots, two independent and three technical experts. The finalists will be identified by five of the world's top certified experts of World Skills. Within the frameworks of the championship, there will be an out-of-competition direction - "Jewelry".

The best students will represent NEFU at the national final of the championship in Moscow from November 28 to December 1.
