From 16 to 21 October, North-Eastern Federal University will host the first stage of international competitions - the university qualification championship according to WorldSkills standards.

"This championship is the largest international movement", said director of NEFU Arctic Innovation Center Aleksey Bessmertny. "Its main goal is to enhance the prestige of the working professions and develop vocational education through the organization and holding of professional competitions worldwide".

The university elimination round will pass on four competencies: web development, software solution for business, engineering design and tourism. "The contest takes place in groups by competencies. During the competitive days, participants undertake a number of tasks, the result of which is assessed by federal experts with the WorldSkills certificate", said the secretary of the organizing committee of the championship Anisiya Lazareva.

Organizers note that participation in competitions is an opportunity for a young specialist, a student to get an assessment of their skills and high qualification, which is in demand on the modern labor market. "The winners of the university tour in November will go to Moscow for the interuniversity championship, where students from all over the country will take part", they said.

We have to add, that last year NEFU students succeeded at the V regional stage of WorldSkills - the students of the university won four gold and five silver medals.
