Young researchers of North-Eastern Federal and the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Art competed in the science show “Science Slam Yakutsk”.  The best work was the study of mosses by Saina Egorova, student of NEFU Institute of Natural Sciences.

According to the coordinator of the event, student of NEFU Medical Institute Innokenty Sheykin, the format of the project is intended to change the opinion of the public that science is boring. "The format of stand-up shows is becoming popular, people don’t want to spend time on boring lectures with dry information. The ScienceSlam style is popular in foreign countries, as well as in other Russian cities, he said. "The show is interesting and informative for the audience and gives new experience to young scientists who make a real contribution to their field of scientific research and our life".

The students made presentations of 10 minutes in a humorous, informative format on the diet of the ancient Yakuts, the psychology of staff in strict regime colonies, the self-identification of people in the Arctic, the development of academic vocal in Yakutia, and how to study the history of Yakutia from photographs.

This year "ScienceSlam Yakutsk" was held in the cultural and leisure center "Europe". "We purposefully hold events in such places to create cognitive dissonance among our guests, where you can have a good time with benefit and science", explained Innokenty Sheykin. The activist plans to increase the number of the audience - both spectators and participants. "Every year the number of young scientists willing to share their own research results is growing. We plan to hold the cup among our favorites", the student said. He noted that activists of the ScienceSlam will take part in the Youth Festival "SakhaRave 2017".
