Maksim Afonin, student of NEFU Institute of Sports and Physical Education, became the shot put champion at the All-Russian student competitions in athletics "Student sports stars", which took place from December 24 to 25 in Moscow.

Showing the best results at the annual tournament "Student sports stars", Maksim Afonin meet the qualification standard, established by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), to participate in the World Championship 2017.
