On December 14, the National University Ranking, formed by the Information Group "Interfax" and radio station "Echo of Moscow", announced the results. North-Eastern Federal University, showing significant growth in key parameters, took the 34th position.

The National University Ranking 2016 included 238 Russian universities. The activity of universities was assessed in six main areas: education, research, socialization, internationalization, brand, innovations and entrepreneurship.

"The university steadily holds positions, showing a positive dynamics in the main indicators such as "Education", "Research" and "Internationalization", that generally shows the correct choice of the key areas and approaches for the university development", said Artyom Vinokurov, the chief specialist of NEFU Department for Strategic Development.

The university has gone from the 61 place to 40 in “Research”, has risen from 32 to 29 place in “Education”, moved up from 57 to 48 place in “Internationalization”.

"The university is in the top 30 universities in the category "Education" nationwide, taking the 29th position. In addition, the university was among the top ten best universities nationwide on such indicators as the number of implemented educational master’s and undergraduate programs, including work with schools and school children", said the employee of the Department for Strategic Development of the university.

According to the head of the department, the assessment was carried out on the basis of questionnaires, filled by representatives of the university. "These questionnaires are posted by the universities on the official websites. The public data from information resources of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the information from the database SPARK and SCAN is used in assessing", said Artyom Vinokurov.
