EEUA Award 2021: NEFU won in the nomination "Development of Interuniversity Cooperation"

North-Eastern Federal University won the nomination of the annual award "Internationalization of Higher Education EEUA 2021" of the Eastern European University Association. There were 92 educational organizations from Russia and the CIS countries in the competition, 11 were awarded the nominations.

The award ceremony was held within the framework of IUNC Eurasia 2021 - the IX Annual Forum on Development of International Educational Activities of Russian and CIS Universities at Ural Federal University. Nyurgun Maksimov, Director of NEFU International Relations Office, said that the award was a symbolic result of the work of the IRO staff led by Vladlen Kugunurov: “Vladlen Vasilyevich has recently headed the Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies at NEFU, and I replaced him as the director of the International Relations Office. I thank Vladlen Vasilievich for the years of cooperation and fruitful work in the development of international relations of NEFU and wish him further success in his professional activities. And my colleagues and I will continue to work on the promotion of NEFU in the global scientific and educational space."

Vladlen Kugunurov, Director of IFPRS, drew attention to the openness of the community of specialists in the international services of universities and the active participation of expert leaders in the international activities of leading Russian universities, with which NEFU began to achieve the indicators of internationalization ten years ago. Among the experts, Vladlen Kugunurov mentioned former Vice-Rector for International Activities of RUDN University Gulnara Krasnova and the current one Larisa Efremova, Vera Skorobogatova, chief analyst of Glavekspertcentr for international activities and others. “International activity is a team work, due to which we have increased the number of foreign students, have significantly expanded the geography of countries for admission to the university. At the moment, more than 800 students from over 40 countries study at NEFU in various programs during the year, including the preparatory department, short-term summer, winter and basic educational programs,” said the director.

NEFU won in the nomination "Development of Interuniversity Cooperation", which, according to the director, is the main award. “It became possible due to the support of the university leadership, strategically built decision to strengthen international relations with partner universities in East Asia, as well as participation in the activities of the University of the Arctic and cooperation with the leading universities in the world in various aspects. For the university and for me personally, this is a confirmation of the effective work, mutual support within the university staff, the International Relations Office and other departments of NEFU,” sums up Vladlen Kugunurov.

The EEUA award is given to universities for achievements in the internationalization of higher education and the active promotion of Russia (CIS) worldwide. The award is intended to draw attention of the professional community and the public to the annual contribution of universities and language schools to the development of national higher education, the formation of the country's reputation in the international market of educational services, as well as individual and collective contribution to the development of the university.
