YEDA and NEFU became partners to promote the university research and development

On December 28, North-Eastern Federal University signed a cooperation agreement with the Investment Promotion Agency of the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone of China (YEDA). The agreement will allow NEFU to promote biopharmaceutical products, certain technologies and materials using unique raw materials on special terms.

NEFU Rector Anatoly Nikolaev emphasized that NEFU is the largest academic institution in the North-East of Russia. “Results in the field of the natural sciences are one of the strengths of the university. Special attention is paid to medicine and biopharmaceutics. The structure of the university has medical and preventive institutions, genetic and biotechnological laboratories. We are glad that we have signed a cooperation agreement with YEDA Investment Promotion Agency (PRC). The agreement will give an opportunity to develop other areas that are mutually beneficial to both parties," said Rector Anatoly Nikolaev.

“In order to speed up the transformation of innovation achievements, Yantai is actively developing a research platform with an annual investment of about 400 million dollars in research and development. Well-known companies in Yantai have been distinguished as national research centers and key laboratories. There are about 100 biomedical companies and 57 medical institutions in the city. Cooperation between the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone and Russia is gaining momentum and becoming more active. We look forward to share development opportunities and build a better future together,” said Sun Zhijie, Director of YEDA Investment Promotion Agency.

The University and YEDA Investment Promotion Agency intend to develop cooperation in the field of scientific, technical and innovative activities, including scientific and student exchange. It is planned to conduct joint scientific research in the field of biopharmaceutical areas, nanotechnology, new sustainable materials, regenerative medicine, exchange of experience and training of scientific personnel. Another important area of ​​cooperation will be planned joint work on the development and promotion of science-intensive products and technologies in the markets of the Asia-Pacific region.

Let us remember, on November 23, NEFU presented projects on the development of preparations from natural plant materials based on the cultivation of callus cultures of unique northern and Arctic plants, cosmetic preparations based on collagen from the swim bladder of northern fish, the development of frost-resistant materials, a project for the development of an artificial liver assistance and other to the management of YEDA Investment Promotion Agency. After the signing of the agreement, it is planned to gather separate project groups of NEFU scientists and YEDA representatives for more substantive interaction.
