World Professional Rankings RankPro: NEFU is among the top 300 universities worldwide

World Professional University Rankings RankPro has published a list of the best universities worldwide. North-Eastern Federal University took the 289th place, rising by 128 positions up, as well as 10th place nationwide.

Director of NEFU Department of Strategic Development Tatiana Volkova said that the university has been included in the world ranking for the sixth year in a row. “Only 35 Russian universities were able to enter the overall ranking. Last year, the country was represented by 24 educational organizations. Six federal universities were also included in the ranking, including our NEFU,” said the department director.

Tatiana Volkova noted that NEFU took the 14th place among 35 Russian universities in terms of academic capabilities, as well as third place among federal universities, overtaking Siberian Federal University, Baltic Federal University and Ural Federal University. The world ranking RankPro assesses more than 1,500 of the best universities in the world. According to the assessment methodology, a university ranking consists of three components that show a complete picture of the university level: academic ranking (50 percent), BC-Index ranking (25 percent) and public ranking (25 percent).

The academic ranking considers the academic opportunities of the university, takes into account the number and composition of students and the academic staff of the university. BC index ranking shows the availability of information in the English version of the university’s website homepage. The public ranking consists of the university ranks in global and national rankings and the results of an expert survey of members of the International Council of Scientists. The interconnection of these three ranking components in the overall result determines the place of the university.

According to the results of the ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology and Stanford University became one of the top three. The leaders among a group of Russian universities were M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (89th place), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (98th place) and ITMO University (128th place).
