NEFU nonresident students may continue their studies at home

On March 17, a high alert regime was implemented in Yakutsk because of the current situation around coronavirus infection. At North-Eastern Federal University, they discussed the conditions under which students living in dormitories can leave and continue their studies online at home.

First of all, students need to fill an application. Students can get the form in their faculties. “This is a kind of guarantee letter. Thus, you confirm that you have quick access to high-speeded Internet, that you have an account in the Moodle online program, passwords and entering data as well. The restrictions should not affect the educational process and its quality,” said Rector Anatoly Nikolaev.

In addition, the rector noted that two days after the switch to distance learning, student users of the Moodle online system visited the site about 400 thousand times. “The system does not fail. There were fears that problems could occur due to congestion, but this was avoided,” said Anatoly Nikolaev.

The rector also added that students who decided to leave the dormitories will have to undergo a medical examination upon arrival. “This is a necessary safety measure. Students can stay at home until the situation around the coronavirus infection stabilizes. We cannot name a clear timeline for the resumption of practical and laboratory studies,” concluded Anatoly Nikolaev.
