On September 19, “Rating Review” magazine published the results of the III Moscow international ranking “Three University Missions”, which included 1,200 universities from 79 countries worldwide. North-Eastern Federal University took the 1001-1100 place worldwide and the 48-58 place in Russia.

The Moscow International University Rating is an academic ranking that evaluates all three key missions of a university: education, science and interaction with society. The rating was initiated by the Russian Union of Rectors in accordance with the instruction of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Russia is represented by only 74 universities in the ranking. This year, the ranking included 8 federal universities. According to the magazine, the strength of Russian universities is the quality of education. “Six national educational institutions entered the top 100 subrating on “Education” criteria: Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, St. Petersburg State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, NRNU MEPhI, HSE and Novosibirsk State University,” the authors noted.

“Russian universities are less successful in a scientific mission - there are no university from Russia in the first hundred, and Moscow State University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, which ranked 108th and 154th respectively, were the more highly rated,” according to the magazine.
