NEFU opens a program for doctors training in English

North-Eastern Federal University will open a specialty program for training doctors in English, aimed at foreign students. At the same time, students will learn Russian, the university’s International Relations Office reported to TASS.

According to Vladlen Kugunurov, NEFU Vice Rector for International Cooperation, the training will take place in a bilingual format. “The main disciplines will be taught in English, while students will intensively study Russian. By the third year, they will begin to practice, and then they should already know the Russian language. This program is commercial, meets the goals and objectives of the national project for the export of Russian education, which involves the internationalization of curricula and the increase in the proportion of foreign students,” said the vice rector.

Foreign students will live in a dormitory, in which specialists with knowledge of foreign languages ​​and intercultural communication skills will work from this academic year. “The university is also launching a new NEFU Buddy Team project, a mentoring program of local students. We have good enough, competitive conditions; “Sergelyakh” campus has won the national and regional competitions among dormitories several times. The university has a psychological assistance center, student development management and other structures for the social adaptation of students,” added Vladlen Kugunurov.

NEFU accepts foreign citizens at all levels of education. More than 300 foreign students study at the university on the main educational programs from China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and others.

The national project "Education" will cover the period from 2019 to 2024. Its total budget will be almost 784.5 billion rubles.
