NEFU has improved its position among Russian universities in the ARES-2019 ranking
North-Eastern Federal University took the 27th place in the international ranking of higher education institutions ARES-2019 (Academic Ranking of World Universities-European Standard), having risen seven positions up compared to last year.
The results of the annual international ranking of higher education institutions (ARES-2019) for the Russian Federation were published on March 20. ARES assesses the activities of higher education institutions for the eighth year and this year the number of participants has increased significantly. This year, 198 universities from Russia were included in the ranking.
“Processing in ARES occurs automatically, eliminating the so-called human factor. The criteria for evaluation are European standards of higher education, which were widely and repeatedly discussed at forums and conferences and received the approval of the BFUG Bologna Process Coordination Group and were approved by the Conference of Ministers of Higher Education in 2015,” NEFU Strategic Development Department commented.
The department also noted that in recent years much attention has been paid to the establishment of a scientific and educational infrastructure, which may consist of “single-sited”, “distributed” or “virtual” to significantly improve the quality of education and the level of scientific development, as well as international activity of the university.
“The steady positive dynamics of NEFU results in the international rankings shows the effectiveness of nearly a decade of the university staff work, right selected strategic planning and competent positioning in the international scientific and educational space,” NEFU SDD added.
The top three in the ranking among Russian universities include M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State University of Physics and Technology and St. Petersburg State University. The ranking also includes eight federal universities. Among this category of universities, NEFU took the fourth position.
