NEFU IMI: Courses related to digital technology will be revised

Training for the digital economy was discussed at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Science (IMI) of North-Eastern Federal University. According to NEFU IMI, the courses on information technology will be changed.

“It is necessary to change these courses, actively implement active methods and technologies of training. Students need to be trained in information thinking and information culture. Currently, there are specialized structures in the Russian Federation that dictate trends in the IT direction. First of all, this is the cluster of information technologies of the Skolkovo Foundation. At the moment, NEFU has specific tasks to revise courses related to information science, information systems, information technologies”, said Natalia Nikolayeva, head of the Department of Theory and Methods of Teaching Information Science.

In turn, Anna Mikhailova, the head of the Department of Sociology and Personnel Management of NEFU Institute of Finances and Economics, noted that in the modern world one of the priorities is human resource development. “People should learn new things, and for that, approaches to education should be revised, it should become more dynamic, meeting the current requests. IFE formed proposals for the development of digital pedagogy in the Year of digit at NEFU”, she said. NEFU IFE believes that among other things, specialized courses on “digital literacy” are necessary for NEFU teachers, as well as the creation of a digital educational ecosystem.

“IMI have planned a number of events in the Year of digit at NEFU. Our region faces the challenge of training in-demand and competitive personnel meeting the challenges and threats of modern society. Strategic documents have been adopted in the Russian Federation that accelerate the process of digital transformation”, said Mikhail Antonov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Science.
