International mas-wrestling center to open in Yakutia with the support of NEFU

A round table was held on the topic “Problems and prospects for the development of mas-wrestling” in the State Assembly (Il Tumen). Deputies, members of the republic government, representatives of sports and physical education, including employees of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of North-Eastern Federal University took part in the discussion.

The round table consolidated the results of the International scientific and practical conference "Mas-wrestling as a kind of martial art: formation, development and popularization". Following the discussion, it was decided to develop a program for the development of this sport in Yakutia for 2020–2025 and to establish an international mas-wrestling center with headquarters in 2019 in Yakutsk.

“We made reports on the scientific and sporting achievements of our institute for 19 years”, said Mikhail Borokhin, head of the department of mas-wrestling and national sports of NEFU IPCS. - A resolution was adopted. The next stage will be legislative consolidation with the participation of sports lawyers of international level. You need an international center to make a mas-wrestling Olympic sport. I would like to establish such center based on NEFU, but other options are possible. In any case, we will provide maximum support”.

The organizer was the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Yakutia, NEFU IPCS together with the Republican Center for National Sports named after Vasily Manchaary and Churapchinsky State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports coordinated the work.

Let us remember, from November 23 to 25, Yakutsk hosted the third world mas-wrestling championship. A first-year undergraduate student at the Mining Institute of North-Eastern Federal University, Evgeny Udin, took the first place in the world mas-wrestling championship. He won in the weight category up to 60 kg.
