NEFU strengthened its position in the ranking of scientific productivity of Russian universities

Analytical Center "Expert" presented the results of the third research on the scientific productivity of universities. North-Eastern Federal University has strengthened its positions in the rankings in three subject areas: Mathematics, Earth Sciences and Social Sciences, according to the department of strategic development of the university.

In the subject area "Mathematics", NEFU moved three positions up and entered the TOP-20 of the country's higher education institutions, taking 18-20 places with Novosibirsk State Technical University and Samara National Research University. The top three leaders of the subject ranking in Mathematics are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the Higher School of Economics and Moscow State University. In total, 30 Russian universities are included in the Mathematics ranking.

This year, 14 subject areas were analyzed. As a year ago, Moscow State University took the leading positions in most technical areas. In the field of humanities and social sciences – the Higher School of Economics.

In the field of "Earth Sciences", NEFU made two positions up and took the 16th place, slightly yielding to Tomsk Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics. The head of the subject ranking is Kazan Federal University. This year, the ranking includes 25 universities nationwide, in 2017 - 20 universities.

In addition, Maksim Ammosov Federal University took the 18-19th place among the universities in the social sciences ranking nationwide, including the Russian State Social University. In 2018, the number of universities included in the ranking decreased to 24, last year there were 28 universities.

The ranking of the faculties is carried out by the Analytical Center "Expert" from 2016. There were only 10 subject areas (humanities, life sciences, energy, mathematics, computer science, earth sciences, social sciences, economics, physics and astronomy, chemistry) in the first edition of the ranking following the results of 2015, there were 13 (additionally 3 subject areas were included: engineering, materials science and chemical technology) in the second edition, in 2018 there were 14 of them (medicine included).
