An experiment in mammoth revival using genome editing - CRISPR-Cas technology - may be successful, said Maksim Cheprasov, senior researcher and head of the Laboratory of NEFU P.A. Lazarev Mammoth Museum.

“Currently, the most realistic method for the revival of a hairy elephant is CRISPR-Cas, genome editing,” he said at the OpenBio-2021 Forum in Koltsovo Science City near Novosibirsk, according to Interfax.

The expert network Davydov.Index (in Russian) has prepared the ranking of rectors of Russian universities who are mentioned in the media. The selection was made for September 2021. NEFU Rector Anatoly Nikolaev was ranked 12th.

Exchange between universities, research institutions is one of the main areas of the Consulate General, said Bernd Finke, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, at a meeting at NEFU on October 6, SakhaNews reported.

The Consul General expressed his readiness to support the scientific interests of NEFU in the search for promising partners in Germany. He also added that "it is necessary to change the existing imbalance in the number of German and Russian students in the countries, good advertising can help in this."
