NEFU to open the exhibition "University of Heroes"

As part of Tatiana Day, North-Eastern Federal University organizes a photo exhibition dedicated to medical students. The pictures show the heroes of the university who are fighting the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.

More than 1,700 students study at the Medical Institute, 352 certified residents continue their education. The staff of the institute did not stand back from the pandemic - today 363 students and residents, 76 volunteers are involved in the fight against the infection. There are 161 students and residents working in the "red zone".

Since the start of the pandemic, students have been fighting the spread of the new coronavirus on different fronts. “Everyone showed their professional level, many of them work in the “red zone” and became volunteers. In December, more than 1,200 medical students worked and completed an internship,” said Director of the Medical Institute Nikolay Gogolev.

The exhibition presents the works of photographers from NEFU Department of Media Policy and Public Relations and student of the Medical Institute Sardaana Petrova. The pictures were taken in one of the oldest buildings of the university - the anatomical building, at the innovation site of the institute - the simulation center and in the "red zone".

Sardaana Petrova took the first pictures at the observation facilities at the beginning of the pandemic. Photographing is almost impossible due to the working conditions in the department of infectious disease, she notes. “If I could take pictures, I would get pictures of women running to the window to watch New Year's fireworks, how grandfather takes his first steps in a month, how grandmother gains the hospital spirits’ favor with candies, or how a colleague opens the window to feel at least some air through the PPE. Here, I mainly took pictures of colleagues before and after the shift, what kind of control the doctors need to pass in order to get to the patients. I hope it was important and necessary for the world,” said the student of NEFU Medical Institute.

Also, as part of the celebration of Student's Day, NEFU will award students who have achieved success in education, science, sports, creative and social activities, a festive online concert and the award "Best University Graduate" will be held.
