NEFU trains master’s students in tourism

Tourism forms and fosters collectivism, patriotism, solidarity, mutual help. Graduates of the Master's program "Sports and Recreation Tourism" of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of North-Eastern Federal University told about their employment.

The master's program began in 2015. Arian Tarasov, the head of the Department of Sports and Recreation Tourism and Mass Sports, noted that 20 master’s students graduated. “Now half of the guys work in the field of physical education and sports as teachers and instructors. Some work in "tourism". We train instructors on hiking and rafting,” commented Arian Tarasov.

Tourism becomes very popular among the population of the republic and nationwide. “Therefore, we can say that the master's program is now relevant. The head of the republic called tourism and recreational activities one of the investment areas. Lena pillars acquired federal status and became attractive to many tourists. Tourism forms and fosters collectivism, patriotism, solidarity, mutual help,” added the program head.

Elena Alekseyeva is a teacher of additional education in tourism at Bulgunnyakhtakh Secondary School named after S.P. Efremov. “After graduation, I wanted to study further. Therefore, I decided to enter my own department, so to say, to increase knowledge and get a master's degree. Knowledge was useful both in practice and in theory. At the moment I teach children tourism,” said the tourism teacher.

According to Elena Alekseyeva, the SRT master's program is a big step towards advanced knowledge of tourism and not only. “After graduation, there is the opportunity to work in travel companies, we have enough companies in our city. I’m a physical education teacher. In fact, as they say, if there’s a will, there is a way,” concluded the graduate of the master's program.

First-year student of the program "Sports and Recreation Tourism" Aleksandr Sedelnikov combines study with work in a future specialty. “I wanted to enter this area because of my interest in tourism and sports. Since school years I was engaged in children's scientific and environmental camps. Since then, I wanted to master a profession related to nature. Now I work as a tourism specialist in the Lena Pillars National Nature Park,” said Aleksandr Sedelnikov.
