Vasily Vasiliev, Head of the Computer Technologies Research Department of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of North-Eastern Federal University, lectured at Chinese universities at the invitation of Chinese partners. The scientist has been appointed as a visiting professor at Heze University.

According to Vasily Vasiliev, he received the first invitation from Xiangtan University. “Last year, Xi Jinping called this university the best provincial university in China. Besides the Faculty of Mathematics, they also have a supercomputer, a key laboratory in Hunan for computing and modeling in science and technology. Teachers and laboratory staff work in a separate three-floored building up to 23 hours a day. Several times a week, seminars are organized where speakers from all over the world make reports,” said the scientist.

The Chinese partners — Dean of the Faculty In Young and Secretary of the Party Committee Yunqing Huang — noted that cooperation with the federal university is fruitful, and it will continue. “In summer, a group of young employees will come to us to participate in the conference. During two or three weeks, they will work with our researchers: we will prepare joint articles and projects,” added Vasily Vasiliev.

The scientist with colleagues from NEFU laboratory presented the latest results of their own research. “A lecture hall full of young scientists, graduate students and master’s students listened to us. Many of them asked questions: their level of mathematical training is very high, plus Chinese hard work. According to the results of presentations with young scientists of China, we prepared joint articles. This was the third trip of our young employees to Xiangtan. The university is in the top 70 in China and ranks 67th,” said the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.

Vasily Vasiliev received an invitation from two more universities in China: Liaoshen University and Heze University: “Professor Tongsun Jiang is a strong mathematician, working as a rector in Heze, he is someone I knew a long time ago. In 2010, we organized together with him the first joint foreign conference of young scientists on mathematical modeling at Linyi University. Professor Tongsun Jiang sent his student to our graduate school in 2014. Last fall, three more master’s students came to study Russian here: they will enter our graduate school. "The leadership of the university and the Faculty of Mathematics informed that I was appointed as a visiting professor at Heze University for a five-year term”.

The Yakut delegation also included candidates of physical and mathematical sciences Aleksandr Grigoriev, Aleksandr Vasiliev and Linde Su, who successfully defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences on December 25, 2019.
