On December 9, the international rankings agency Round University Rankings published a Subject Rankings of the world's leading universities in the Humanities and Social Sciences. North-Eastern Federal University ranked 7th in Russia and 355th worldwide in the Humanities and 15th in Russia and 530th worldwide in Social Sciences.

According to Tatiana Volkova, director of NEFU Department of Strategic Development, the best universities in the world are presented in the ranking in each of the subject areas. “The ranking assesses the university by 20 indicators and four key areas: Teaching, Research, International Diversity and the Financial Stability of the university. RUR is a promising world ranking. The university plans to continue to work with this ranking. On December 18, Oleg Soloviev, the agency’s Executive Director, will arrive to hold an analytical seminar. We expect to hear about global trends, strengths and weaknesses of universities according to the ranking data, to receive recommendations for improving indicators and assessing promising positions in the ranking over the next three years,” said Tatiana Volkova.

In total, the Humanities Ranking includes 615 universities worldwide, including 40 Russian universities. Among federal universities, the ranking also included UrFU, FEFU, NArFU, IKBFU and SFU, where NEFU ranks first. Moscow, Tomsk and St. Petersburg state universities are in the top leading Russian universities in the Humanities.

The Social Sciences Ranking includes 660 universities worldwide and 53 Russian educational institutions. Top 10 was opened by Moscow and St. Petersburg state universities, the Russian Economic School. The agency used data collected at 750 leading universities from 74 countries.
