NEFU athletes won gold medals at the World Mas-Wrestling Cup in Baku

Vasily Androsov, a student at the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of North-Eastern Federal University and university graduate Aysen Atastyrov became winners of the first stage of the 2019 World Mas-Wrestling Cup. Competitions were held in “Apsheron” Olympic Sports Complex in Baku.

According to the organizers, the days of the competitions were very difficult for all participants. “Every athlete aims to achieve more. That is why you become so emotional. I am glad that despite the hot nature of the competitions, we remain true to our friendship. Thank you all for choosing mas-wrestling,” the organizers of the sports event commented.

“It’s not so easy to win in away competitions. But my experience and hard training helped me,” said IPCS graduate Aysen Atastyrov. - All my fights were equal: I defeated my opponents from Ukraine and Uzbekistan 2-1. I was glad of course to become a winner."

IPCS student Vasily Androsov said that winning the competition in Baku was his first achievement at this level: “I felt a great responsibility because I played for the Russian team. I had to win. The coach and I were training hard for the competition, carefully studying the opponents and their weak points. Due to good training, I won the first stage. I am very glad and happy. There are 2 more stages of the World Cup ahead.”

In total, over 100 athletes from Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Slovakia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, and India took part in the competition. The next stage of the World Cup in mas-wrestling will be held on August 15-19 in Almalyk, Uzbekistan.
