On May 6, 2019, a delegation of North-Eastern Federal University participated in the Russian-Chinese forum "Social and Cultural Development of the Russian Far East and the North-East of China" at the invitation of the Chinese side. The organizer and initiator of the forum was the Changchun Science and Technology Institute.

According to Director of the Institute of the East of International Relations Office Nyurgun Maksimov, NEFU representatives made presentations on various aspects of the social and cultural development of the Russian Far East. “Participants from the Russian and Chinese sides discussed the key problems of the development of education, territorial mobility and the state of small indigenous peoples, as well as the development of tourism and agriculture. During the stay in Changchun, university staff also gave lectures on their areas of research to the faculty and students of Changchun Science and Technology Institute,” said Nyurgun Maksimov.

The forum hosted the first meeting of the Academic Council of the Joint Research Institute for Social Development of the Russian Far East and the North-East of China, established on the basis of Changchun Science and Technology Institute with the participation of NEFU. During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation were discussed. Following the results, a joint research plan for the near future was adopted

The delegation included Director of the Institute of the East Nyurgun Maksimov, the head of the inter-department sociological laboratory of the Institute of Finances and Economics Dekabrina Vinokurova, the associate professor of the Pedagogy Department of the Teacher Training Institute Svetlana Panina and the associate professor of the Culturology Department of the Institute of Languages ​​and Cultures of Peoples of the Russian North-East Sargylana Nikiforova.

Changchun Science and Technology Institute (CSTI) is one of the leading private (people's) universities of the Jilin Province, located in the Shuangyang district of Changchun.
