NEFU scientists took part in the II Northern Cultural Forum

Scientists of North-Eastern Federal University took part in the II Northern Cultural Forum to discuss the implementation of the national project "Culture". The event took place in Syktyvkar from 14 to 15 March.

At the expert site “Social and Cultural Factors of Sustainable Development of the Northern Regions”, Anatoly Zhozhikov, Head of the UNESCO International Department at NEFU, noted the importance of the influence of new technologies in his report “Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East in the World Information Space”. “We live in the age of the information society. At the same time with our real life, a multicultural communication environment is being formed in the global network. If we will not present in this space, then languages ​​will disappear faster. At the same time, the Internet enables us to digitize and preserve cultural heritage”, he explained.

Anatoly Zhozhikov presented to the forum participants a multilingual portal that allows preserving the languages ​​of indigenous culture in the network space. “Thanks to the “digitization”, the language of the forest Yukagirs was given new life, whose speakers have less than a dozen”, he noted.

More than 300 representatives of 28 regions of Russia, as well as Norway and Finland, took part in the II Northern Cultural Forum. There were discussion sites “Design Theater versus Repertory Theater”, “Culture. Education. Science "," Museums and tourism. Effective interaction”, as well as the international library convention “Strategic directions for the development of modern libraries in the context of achieving sustainable development goals”.
