Professor Ahn Sang-Cheol: “NEFU is a leading university of Russia”
The Education Center of Korean Language and Culture of Sejong Institute, opened at North-Eastern Federal University, conducts training worldwide, making Korean more accessible to foreigners, according to Professor Ahn Sang-Cheol at NEFU Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies.
“The opening of the center coincided with an important event, the Korean Alphabet Day - the day of the Hangul alphabet invention. There are only nine Sejong Institutes in Russia. The head office of the Institute applied three times to open the center in Yakutsk, but received a refusal. Finally, we did it. The choice fell on NEFU, as the university is one of the leading universities nationwide”, said the professor.
He noted that both Korean teachers and local staff will teach at the center. “Studying Korean culture and language will help the exchange of traditions between our republics and the establishment of good relations. In my opinion, the curriculum offered by the institute is very suitable for the Yakuts”, said Ahn Sang-Cheol.
Professor Ahn Sang-Cheol is the director of NEFU School of International Studies. He is engaged in the development of academic and methodological complexes of disciplines, the preparation and publication of scientific works, the preparation of test materials, work on the master's program in linguistics, "Languages and linguistics" in English.
