The meteorology practice takes place after the 1st year of a bachelor’s degree in summer at the real meteorological site of the university. This practice ensures the development of the necessary skills in meteorology for the first-year geography students. During this practice, the students conduct authentic observations and research on modern meteorological devices, which allows them to get an insight on weather, climate, ecology and sustainability issues of Yakutia, one of the harshest and wildest regions of the world.

The interzonal field practice, being a link between studying theoretical knowledge and developing practical skills, is one the most important in the education of highly qualified geographers and takes place after the 2nd year of a bachelor’s degree. The practice is held outside Yakutia and, therefore, introduces to the students the nature and economy of the other Russian Far East regions. The place of practice is determined with the consideration of several factors and varies from year to year to ensure the relevance to certain research.
