Institute of Applied Ecology of the North was opened in 1993 by the Decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences 03.02.1993 № 21. In order of the Academy of Sciences of Sakha (Yakutia ) of 08.11.1994 № 17 Institute of Applied Ecology of the North was admitted to the Academy of Sciences of Sakha (Yakutia). In order of the Government of the Russian Federation from May 8, 2007 № 575 the Institute was transferred to the Federal Agency for Education.
On the basis of the Order of the Ministry of Education 09.08.2011 number 155 was created a new separate division "Scientific Research Institute of Applied Ecology of the North", of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "M.K. Ammosov North- Eastern Federal University.”
