UNESCO supported the project of the establishment of the International Center of the epos of the Eurasian peoples in Yakutsk. UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova told about it during the opening of the II International Forum "Epics of the peoples of the world on the land of Olonkho" in the area of ​​Orto Doydu.

"Yakutia must move to the international level and establish the Center of the epos of the Eurasian peoples. We support the initiative of the republic, and by establishing this center you will become pioneers in the Eurasian space and will contribute to the preservation of the epics of other peoples", said Bokova, according to TASS.

The head of the republic Egor Borisov came forward with an initiative to establish this center. "The people, not having their own writing, preserved their language thanks to the epic Olonkho. Therefore, the establishment of the International Center of the epos of the Eurasian peoples will integrate the epic into other world cultures", he said.

According to the Deputy Director for science of the Olonkho Institute of M.K. Ammosov NEFU Ruslan Anisimov, following the results of the conference a declaration will be adopted. The document will announce the establishment of a research and coordination center of epic studies in Russia for the study and publication of samples of the epic heritage of Russian peoples as an integral part of the epics of the peoples of the world. It is also planned to declare the creation of an encyclopedia of the epics of the peoples of the world. In this regard, Ruslan Anisimov noted that NEFU Research Institute of Olonkho the third year is working on the compilation of the encyclopedia of Olonkho, two volumes have already been prepared, this year the third volume will be finished, writes YASIA.

In addition, Anisimov said that the declaration will include the intention to publish a golden series of epics of the peoples of the world in two languages ​​- Russian and English, as well as the approval of the international editorial board under the auspices of UNESCO. "The Deputy Director for Science of the Olonkho Institute also informed journalists that a presentation of a special issue of the American journal with articles of Yakut scientists will be held within the frameworks of the conference. The meeting will be hosted by a guest from the USA Robin Harris, Director of world arts studies in Dallas, Texas.
