Experts of NEFU Language Center prepare for the Cambridge exams

NEFU Language center together with Khabarovsk authorized center for Cambridge exams RU151 held a methodological seminar within the frameworks of the All-Russian event the Cambridge Days. More than 300 teachers and English teachers attended a two-day seminar, which was organized at NEFU on January 23-24.

The seminar was organized with the support of the Department of English language exams of Cambridge University. “The preparation to international exams for English language is relevant, because the University programs should be included into international context. Any scientific activity, career growth involves interactions not only within their country but also with foreign colleagues”, said Mariya Slavschik, the Methodist of Cambridge English Language Assessment.

During educational program, the teachers and teachers of English introduced with the test procedure and features of Cambridge exams of A1-C1 levels. The participants noted that this method differs from the program that they use. “If we focus on grammar, writing, this method is aimed at the communicative level. In preparation for international exams, children learn to speak, interact, their speech, social skills are assessed”, said Irina Savvina, the Head of NEFU Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies.

It should be reminded that in March 2016 NEFU Language center got the status of official center for preparing to the Cambridge exams, which are known worldwide. Certificates of their completion internationally recognised by educational institutions and employers as a real indicator of English knowledge. “The goal of the seminar is to show teachers the benefits of exam preparation, to help most effectively organize training programs for them. The event showed that teachers are serious, ready to achieve high results”, said the lecturer.
