Students to develop the projects for improvement of life in the Russian North-East at NEFU Engineering Forum

On January 18, NEFU will open student’s forum of engineering design - Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Program led by Professor of the Institute of Natural Sciences Jin Ho Cho. Student teams will develop the projects for solution of engineering problems in the region. The forum is held for the second time, according to NEFU Institute of the East.
“Forum is intended for students of all specialties, who want to learn project activities, to present and protect their ideas. The main subject will be improvement of living conditions in the region”, said Innokenty Sivtsev, the coordinator of the event, leading specialist of the Institute of the East. English language will be working language of the forum.
Jin Ho Cho will be the chair of the program. The participants will have to pass special educational program: introductory lections on project activities, “brainstorming” to choose the theme, analyze efficiency, practical work on creating the project layout, the initiators said.
“Professor, as other NEFU partners, are interested in development of our region by the example of the Republic of Korea and to cooperate between countries”, said Innokenty Sivtsev. Last year 5 student’s groups developed innovative projects – they came up with ideas of autonomous warming centers in the North and the Arctic for people in driving situations, submerged plants, mobile repellers, etc.
Students will have to develop the prototypes of their ideas and defend them before the committee. Experts of the university will assess the final works.
