The representatives of Norway made presentations within the frameworks of lectures "University: exploring the endless North". At the opening ceremony, Rector Evgenia Mikhailova noted that the Federal University is included in a consortium of the Arctic universities since 1998 – there is a close cooperation in the field of education and science since that time.

According to the Norwegian Ambassador to Russia Leidulv Namtvedt, the government is committed to international cooperation in the field of education. "The education is the key for solving numerous problems, so we are pleased to continue cooperation in the field of education, research and development of technologies that will be important for the development of the Arctic and our countries", the ambassador said.

Rector Anne Khusebekk told about the success and research of the Arctic University of Tromso. "The opening of our university was a bold decision of the government, because we are situated in the north of the country. Despite the fears, the university has become one of the largest scientific and educational centers in the north of Norway", she said. Anne Khusebekk noted that the cooperation between NEFU and the University of Tromsø is mutually enriching scientific and educational activity of the universities.

Lars Kullerud, NEFU Professor Emeritus, President of the University of the Arctic, performed before students and teachers.  "The Yakut and Norwegian universities are actively involved in the work of the University of the Arctic. Currently, the scientists of Tromsø are working on the organization of an exchange program, due to which, our cooperation with the Federal University will be more successful", the professor said.
