NEFU and Sooam Foundation to present cloned dogs to the military historical society of Yakutia

On November 29, Sooam Biotech Research Foundation will present three working cloned dogs to the regional branch of the Russian military historical society in honor of the 60th anniversary of the university education in Yakutia. Federal University as a research partner of Sooam BRF acts as an intermediary, according to Head of "NEFU Mammoth Museum" Semyon Grigoriev.

Korean scientists will present three Belgian Malinois working dogs, cloned in the laboratories of Sooam BRF in Seoul, to the dog handlers of Yakut regional branch of the Russian military historical society. "These dogs have been recreated from the cells of the best tracking dog in the Republic of Korea and have inherited the unique abilities of animals, that is proved by Korean scientists. They will be the first cloned working dogs in Russia", said the head of NEFU Mammoth Museum, chief researcher Semyon Grigoriev.

Korean Sooam Biotech Foundation is the only research institution worldwide, engaged in cloning dogs. Currently, a group of scientists led by Professor Hwang Woo Suk cloned more than 800 dogs. "Many working dog clones successfully serve in Korea, USA, China and other countries in the fight against terrorism, bomb and drugs search at airports and crowded places", he said.

"Anyone who is interested in cloning, can visit the open lecture by Professor Hwang Woo Suk "Biotechnology of animals: present and future" and personally ask him questions on November 29", said Semyon Grigoriev. The lecture will be held at 5:00 pm in 263 office of NEFU Building of Faculties of Natural Sciences (KFEN).
