The Council of Student’s Dormitories helps freshmen to adapt to the student life

Senior students help freshmen of North-Eastern Federal University to adapt to the educational process and life in the dormitories. The initiator of the event is a Council of Student’s Dormitories "Sergelekh". Dedication to the residents of the campus will be held this week, according to Council Chair Sofron Novgorodov.
"In the new academic year, the council activists continue to work in terms of keeping dormitories clean, help freshmen to adapt to the university life, carry out activities. At the dedication of freshmen, undergraduates will talk about the activities of university public organizations, higher scholarships, clubs and sections, will reveal the secrets of students’ life", said Sofron Novgorodov.
Joint Student Council of Dormitories "Sergelekh" unites 12 residential buildings of North-Eastern Federal University, more than 500 students are members of it. "Our activists organize leisure of students, for example, annual sports contest in 16 different sports among residents of the campus will be held soon. The competitions in billiards, hockey, women's football, cyber sport and other types will be held during the year", said the activist.
The Council plans to cooperate with the Council of dormitories of other institutions and universities of Yakutsk. "We are actively working with NEFU Student Coordinating Council and NEFU International Club. This year, we want to involve students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of Yakutia to our events, to help them to solve everyday and organizational issues", said the council chair.

There are 5,796 students in campus dormitories with the total area of 88,793 square meters. There are cafeterias, canteens, reading rooms and lounges, laundry and ironing, health care offices, women's clinic, serving the students and staff of the University.
