University of Lapland and NEFU strengthen cooperation: joint research is planned

On May 6, North-Eastern Federal University and the University of Lapland signed a cooperation agreement within which the universities will start joint educational programs, research.

"The exchange of students, teachers, and educational programs are, of course, important and needed. But I would like to pay special attention to conducting joint research in the field of Arctic", said NEFU rector Evgenia Mikhailova.

Mauri Yla-Kotola, rector of the University of Lapland, told about the projects in which they cooperate. "We have already started to study the legal status of the indigenous peoples together with NEFU, Centre of Legal Research of Sustainable Development of Arctic and Indigenous Minorities of the North. I believe that our cooperation will be fruitful", said Mauri Yla-Kotola.
