Atsuko Sugimoto was awarded with the honorary title “NEFU Professor Emeritus”

Professor Atsuko Sugimoto became Professor Emeritus of North-Eastern Federal University. NEFU Scientific Council recognized her contribution to the development of science and education on April 25.

NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova noted that the university has been cooperating closely with Hokkaido University for a long time: there are joint research in the field of climatology, summer school led by Professor Atsuko Sugimoto. "She has been conducting and coordinating the ecosystem research on permafrost in Eastern Siberia with the Russian colleagues for 16 years. I thank you for your partnership not only with academics, but also with students and graduate students of our university", said the university rector.

Professor Atsuko Sugimoto leads the project "Change in the terrestrial ecosystems of the pan-Arctic and effects on climate", which is one of the research projects of the Japanese initiative within the observation of best practices, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan (MEXT).

"I want to thank Maksim Ammosov University very much. All my achievements and results have been achieved thanks to my Yakut colleagues. I’m very glad I have friendship and joint projects with NEFU scientists", she said.
