Cambridge Vice-Chancellor Leszek Borysiewicz expressed readiness to support joint projects with NEFU. According to delegation member Valentin Struchkov, representatives of the Federal University talked about the research projects of the university and prospects of cooperation at a meeting with him on February 11.

The first joint project of NEFU and the Scott Polar Research Institute was a research project in Anthropology - Professor Piers Vitebsky and Associate Professor of the Faculty of History Anatoly Alekseev published a scientific article about the traditions of indigenous peoples of Siberia. "When two researchers with the joint research interests meet, there are scientific cooperation and major projects", Leszek Borysiewicz said.

According to delegation member Valentin Struchkov, Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies, NEFU representatives outlined the areas in which cooperation is possible: medicine, graphene technology. "Cambridge University is looking for real application of graphene in life, based on theoretical and fundamental research carried out by other institutions. We could cooperate in the field of applied application of this material and its commercialization", the Vice-Chancellor said. Head of Educational, Scientific and Technical Laboratory "Graphene Nanotechnologies" of the Institute of Physics and Technology Svetlana Smagulova said that the university is establishing cooperation with the Graphene Centre of the University of Manchester in this area.

NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova said that last year she did much work with the Government of Russia and the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, winning the construction permit of a new teaching and laboratory complex of NEFU Medical Institute. She suggested the Vice-Chancellor to support its provision of equipment and personnel.

"NEFU is a young university, it gives an advantage to plan its appearance in accordance with what is expected from the university in the future. Here in Cambridge, it is hard to do - many buildings of the university are hundreds of years, they can not be moved or rebuilt. We are ready to help you develop", Leszek Borysiewicz concluded.

The federal university delegation included Director of the Institute of Medicine Palmira Petrova, Dean of the Faculty of History Natalia Struchkova, Associate Professor of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science Nikifor Pavlov, NEFU Partner in England Svetlana Johnston.
