It was noted that the highest number of the first-year students (266 people) entered the Institute of Engineering and Technology and their average scores of Unified State Exam are also the highest - 64.7 points.

The Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Survey Boris Popov said that great hopes are pinned on the future engineers. ‘You have chosen wonderful and creative professions. Miners, geologists and engineers are highly relevant in our republic and in our country. I hope your names will be in the list of outstanding graduates of the University,’ he said.

NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova said that the first-year students should always remember that they have become students of the University that is among top ten universities in the country. ‘ This year NEFU took the fifth place among the federal universities in the category" Education" due to the great teachers’ work. Our University also occupies good position in the National Universities Rankings in the category "Innovation" and the first-year students should develop this sphere," said the Rector. She advised the students to make a development program for the next five-ten years and to do their best to make it work.

The Director of the Institute of Mining Boris Zarovnyaev reminded that the students will soon start the productive activity. ‘You get access not only to the resources of the University with the student card, but also assume the obligation to study conscientiously within the next five years. The next year you’ll already start working. I hope that we will give you the Diploma of Engineering in four and five years,’ said the Director of the Institute.
