The Rector of NEFU Evgenia Mikhailova: "We need to bring up new professors."

Today on August 31 at the conference of the most active members of the University the Rector of NEFU Evgenia Mikhailova has announced the new academic year issues and long-term plans. One of the main issues will be bringing up the professors, increasing publication activity and citations of scientists, the attraction of foreign professors and students.

In the report “The Chance to Win” the rector said that during the academic year the program will be taken to support professors, prominent scientists and the heads of departments. “Now the University has 183 professors with the average age of 68. The number of professors should be increased, although I understand that with the adoption of new regulations on awarding the scientific title it would be hard to do. By the end of 2015 with the help of the endowment fund of the University we can do it,” said the Head of the University.

In total 66.6% of the scientific and pedagogical workers of NEFU have degrees, 148 have PhD degrees and 21 people defensed their doctoral dissertation. The University has 10 research professors, 16 research associate professors and 14 professors-mentors. “The University had moved to a system of effective contract: vice-rector, deans and directors of academic departments have already signed the contract. 376 executives are ready to do it. In 2015 all heads of departments and professors will sign the effective contract and this process will be finished,” said Evgenia Mikhailova.

"The new academic year has to be a turning point for the university staff. This year we aim to raise labor productivity, the quality of students' knowledge and the performance of the official duties. I think our collective aims to create a classic Research University. Good ideas should be supported, and we ourselves should not be satisfied with the results achieved,” said the Rector.

The pro-rector for Financial and Economic and Business activity Gerasim Pavlov, the director of the International Relations Office Vladlen Kugunurov and the head of Research Works Constantine Krivoshapkin also took the floor at the conference of the main active members.

The following awards were given at the conference. Mikhail Yudin, the Professor of Prospecting faculty, was awarded the badge of "The Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and Valentina Grigorieva, the Associate Professor of the Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies was awarded a diploma of the Ministry of Education. Lyubov Ilyina, the Head of the study group of Teacher Training Institute, was also awarded the title of "Honorary Veteran of NEFU"
