Yakutsk IT-company My Tona interested in cooperation with NEFU

On April 15, heads of My Tona Aleksey and Afanasy Ushnitsky talked about the need for training of additional IT-specialists at the meeting with NEFU.

According to the Ushnitsky brothers, IT-industry needs personnel. "We need programmers, and we are glad that the quality and level of knowledge of graduates increases every year. Today NEFU students undertake internships, work at our company, but before we teach them a few months, because we have a focused specialization", Aleksey Ushnitsky said. He said that the salary of the company’s employees begins from RUR 25,000 and the main criteria for recruitment are interest and knowledge of programming languages. "Our industry is just beginning to develop, but after two or three years we will feel the shortage of specialists, and we would like to cooperate with NEFU, with the university, which is responsible for the future of our industry", he added.

Vera Afanasyeva, Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Science, said that this year there will be 167 graduates of the institute, and asked how many employees the company needs, offering to apply for training bachelors and masters.

"In order to reduce the time and cost of training for employment in the company, we can consider the competencies that you need to add them in NEFU educational programs. It is necessary to strengthen the application part of the training", Rector Evgenia Mikhailova said. She noted that the interdisciplinary fields would be especially relevant for future students.

Ways of cooperation by the example of the city program "100 Masters" and the option of teaching students on special courses were discussed at the meeting, suggested by Afanasy Savvin, Pro-rector for Innovation Development and Commercialization of Scientific Research.

"Students love and want to program, but they need to be involved in this activity from the university entrance. And we need to work in this direction", the head of NEFU IMIS Department Sergey Mordovskoy said.

Annually, the Institute of Technology graduates 30 specialists, the director of the Institute Aleksey Bessmertny said. "Graduates with secondary vocational education can intern at the company and get a job", he said and invited the Ushnitsky brothers to attend the defence of graduation theses.

My Tona Company earn an income from sales abroad and pay taxes of RUR 37 million to the budget of Yakutia. All 90 employees are residents of the republic, most of them are NEFU graduates, 25 graduated from NEFU Institute of Mathematics and Information Science.
