NEFU Institute of Olonkho started to develop “Encyclopedia of Olonkho”

Research Institute of Olonkho won a grant of the main contest of the Russian Foundation for Humanities on the subject “Yakut heroic epos Olonkho in the context of world epic enciclopedism”, according to the institute.

The study will be carried out on the base of the Institute of Olonkho involving experts from other organizations. The first stage of the work will be this year. "Generalization of knowledge about the Yakut epos in the Encyclopedia of Olonkho will present to society the unique world of epic heritage of the Yakut people, its inexhaustible spiritual potential, filled with the idea of ​​good and happiness, peace and justice", Lilia Gerasimova, the Head of Institute Sector "Translation of Olonkho into the world languages", said.

The institute reported that the results of research work for three years will be summarized in the fundamental work, which will result the preparation and publication of electronic and printed versions of "Encyclopedia of Olonkho" in Russian and English. The creation of the encyclopedia will contribute to the preservation, promotion and dissemination of the Yakut heroic epos Olonkho, expansion of scientific contacts, establishment of cooperation in Epos Studies, improvement of the efficiency of research work on the epic heritage of the peoples of the world, the provision of consulting assistance in the publication of the epos texts and the publication of scientific articles in journals with high International rating status.
