Paul Sabatier University interested in joint research with NEFU in climatology and permafrost study

Eric Crubezy, Pro-rector of the University of Toulouse named after Paul Sabatier (France), suggested the university to become one of the key points of cooperation with Russian universities at a meeting with NEFU rector Evgenia Mikhailova. Leaders discussed the expansion of cooperation between two universities on March 20.

"Our university has opened the international offices in China and Brazil. We plan to strengthen the work with Russian universities in Siberia, as we understand that the future of the country will be related to this region. Currently, there is a question of opening offices in Novosibirsk. Our goal is to increase the number of students studying on the exchange basis, teaching staff, programs of dual certification, opening of joint laboratories”, the Pro-rector for International Relations said.

Rector Evgenia Mikhailova noted that the University of Toulouse has a long cooperation with the federal universities and research institutions of Yakutia. Thus, the parties to extend the agreement on cooperation in the field of archaeological research.

"150 university researchers have scientific relations, joint research with scientists from Siberia. 30 of our scientists work closely with the Yakut researchers - they study climate, permafrost", the visitor from France said.

The total amount of students at Paul Sabatier University is 120,000 students, 12% of them are foreigners. In November 2014, the university researchers were awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. Toulouse University took the 82th place in the Shanghai Ranking of World Universities due to the excellent criteria.

"We are ready to admit NEFU graduates for master's programs. I hope that our joint research will give good results", the Pro-rector concluded.
