Foreign students read a favorite rhyme from the Russian classic

“My favorite rhyme in Russian literature”- the name of the contest, held on February 26 within the Year of literature in Russia for foreign students studying at NEFU. They read the poems of Pushkin, Lermontov, Yesenin and other classics.

13 contestants from China, South Korea, the USA, Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Côte d'Ivoire participated at the event.

Yu Jin Lee, Kim Hye Yeong and O He Yeol from South Korea read together a poem called "Neznakomka" by Alexander Blok. They have received special praise for teamwork, and the Syrian Al Ghafari Mahmoud gained recognition from the jury as the most emotional reader, reading Afanasy Fet’s poem "The whole world from beauty". Yannick Somplei from Côte d'Ivoire was recognized by reading two poems of his favorite poet Fyodor Tyutchev.

"I am very glad that Yakutia became a place where you have met and got acquainted. There is no such winter and summer like here. Here everything is contrast: winter like winter, summer like summer. You performed as well as remarkably contrastively, unusually, many thanks to you for that", the chair of the jury, Head of the Department “Russian as a Foreign Language" of the Faculty of Philology Svetlana Petrova said.

Certificate of Merit were awarded to all participants of the readers contest. "It is a great honor to receive the merit certificate in Russia", foreign students agreed.
