NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova: "We follow an example of scientific potential cultivation of the Republic of Korea"

Cooperation of the Republic of Korea and Yakutia is 20 years old. On November 14, the meeting took place at the federal university with the Korean delegation – heads of the Sakha-Korean Association, Professor Kang Ducksoo, and Mr. Pak Chong Be.

"The Sakha-Korean School opened in 1994 became very important step to cultivation of young people who know languages and culture of other people, become tolerant citizens, build the world of the future, – NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova said. – Our university cooperates with the Korean universities long ago, in particular, due to the friend of university Professor Kang Ducksoo. The international school of sciences works under the leadership of Professor An San Chol, the master program in linguistics works the second year. Scientists of the university under the leadership of Professor Jin Ho Cho develop the lubricant oils capable to work at a temperature of minus 70 degrees by Celsius".

Professor Kang Ducksoo, being at the head of the Sakha-Korean Association, translated the Yakut epos olonkho into the Korean language and published. "It is a big human feat, – the university rector said. – Activity of our partners from Korea shows, that even one person can make a lot of things for development of the country and the region".

The Chair of the Sakha-Korean Association Pak Chong Be notes that Korea and Yakutia have strong relationship. "Students from Yakutia show successful results. Ulyana Kobyakova who was supported a grant by our association, protected doctor's degree. In turn, our highly qualified specialists develop in Yakutia science and education", Mr. Pak welcomed students and teachers of the university.

"We can use an example of Korea in many areas: developments of health care, science and education, small business. NEFU Small Innovation Businesses introduce new technologies, programs, which are important for development of the region", the Minister of Business and Tourism Development of RS(Y) Ekaterina Kormilitsina noted. She reminded that a year ago, Russia and Korea signed the agreement on a visa-free regime for tourists, and in February 2015 from the date of signing of the cooperation agreement between the RS (Y) government and the Republic of Korea will be 20 years old.
